Fr. Michael Brungardt is a Roman Catholic priest of the Diocese of Wichita. Ordained May 26, 2018 by the Most Reverend Carl A. Kemme, Fr. Michael is currently assigned as the Associate Director of the St. Joseph House of Formation in Wichita, KS. In addition, he is completing his Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) through the Pontifical Faculty of Theology of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, IL.
Fr. Michael is the fifth of ten kids and grew up in Wichita. He attended Benedictine College in Atchison, KS before beginning seminary at Conception Seminary College in Conception, MO. After graduating from Conception, Fr. Michael spent one year at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD before transferring to the University of Saint Mary of the Lake – Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, IL. There, Fr. Michael earned a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (S.T.B.) and a Masters of Divinity (M.Div.).
Fr. Michael spent two years as the parochial vicar of St. Margaret Mary in Wichita, KS, then a year as the parochial vicar of St. Mary in Derby, KS before being named pastor of St. Paul (Lyons) and Holy Name of Jesus (Bushton) in 2021. In 2023, he also became pastor of Holy Trinity (Little River). In 2025, he was named the Associate Director of the St. Joseph House of Formation in Wichita.
Fr. Michael’s article, “A Study of Accompaniment at the End of Life,” was published in the Winter 2017 publication of the National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly. His article, “Toward a Proposal for Responding to the Transgender Movement,” was published in the Winter 2022 edition of Nova et Vetera.
