What keeps us from being the prophet we are called to be is that we have allowed Jesus to become too “native,” too “familiar” to us, too ordinary, and we have ended up believing that adherence to this man could not possibly be God’s plan for us–and so we decide to forge our own path, or worse, to insert our own image of who Jesus is. We must constantly be renewed, constantly return to the beginning–and this begins by being open to the fact that Jesus is still powerfully active in our lives, especially in those areas where we never thought possible.
